Cutting machine 71/30

Crack-off-, tip drawing- and glazing-machine

Item number: VG2-00040

Machine construction:

The machine base frame, with the fitted roller rests, is executed in two parts and mounted on a solid aluminium profile tube frame. For transport the base frame can easily be divided.
All other machine parts, like the slide for the cracking-off burner, the basic heating burner as well as the roller drive, are permanently mounted onto the base frame.

Working method cracking off:
The tube which has to be cracked off is laid on the left side of the right roller rest of the machine and then is pushed to an adjustable stop on the right side. After switching on the rotation the tube is scratched from the outside with a diamond.
After that the cracking-off burner, which is mounted on a slide, is driven against an also adjustable stopper precisely to the scratching position and into the tube.

Due to the very sharp, local burner flame and the scratch in this area, created by the diamond, the cracking off operation is started. (Thermal shock method).

Working method tip drawing:
The tube which has to be worked is laid on both roller rests of the machine and is held via a spring weighed pressure roll on the left roller rest. To the right of the heating burner the tube length, which is to be pulled off from the starting tube later, is positioned.
The rotation drive is switched on, and via the foot operated gas oxygen economizer the burner is started.
After reaching the desired tube temperature the burner is switched off, the short tube end is taken by hand and is stretched by turning and pulling at the same time to a tip.

After solidifying the tube is drawn under the pressure roll to the length of the tip and the operation is repeated. During the heating period the operator can cut off the resulting tips with a glass cutting knife. For pulling tips which have the same length the stopper, which can be driven over the whole machine length, can be used as positioning assistance. For heating different lengths of tube zones the heating burner head can be changed or swivelled around by 90°. The standard burner is a three-row box burner with a flame length of 35 mm.

Working method glazing:
For glazing the same heating burner is used as for tip drawing. Two tube ends can be glazed at the same time.
Therefore one tube is laid on the left roller rest and one tube is laid on the right roller rest and the burner head is turned about 90° so that the flame stands parallel to the cutting edge. Now by switching on the tube rotation and the burner the glazing procedure can begin. Melting time and burner adjustments depend on diameter / wall thickness, the kind of glass and the desired melting grade.
